Checkout Requirements

TSS has a variety of requirements for flying our aircraft. These are based on a combination of TSS rules and rules specified by our insurer, AIG.

Please note, these should be taken as general guidelines. Please contact Herb Rosenthal to discuss your specific situation.

General Requirements

  • Valid Medical Certificate
  • Private Pilot’s Certificate or a Student Pilot Certificate (if taking instruction with a TSS instructor)
  • FAA Flight Review in the past 12 Months conducted by a club instructor (unless taking instruction with a TSS instructor)

  • 100+ hours of PIC time
  • 25+ hours PIC in single engine with retractable gear AND 5+ hours PIC in Make/Model
  • In lieu of 25+ hours PIC in retracts, 10 hours dual instruction in Make/Model can be substituted
